Aden (IINA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday said that the Houthi group and forces loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh should lift the siege of Taiz, in central Yemen, and allow entry of relief supplies into the city to save the life of civilians trapped in the residential neighborhoods.
WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Ala Alwan called for provision of urgent relief aid to the civilians in Taiz to avoid recurrence of Madhya scenario, the Syrian city which has been under unjust encirclement by armed group.
Dr Alwan was quoted by Yemen News Agency (SABA) as saying that the UN health agency is ready and continues to contribute to providing urgent humanitarian requirements for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
"The organization will provide urgent medical aid such as anesthesia for life-saving surgeries, solutions for blood banks, laboratories and dialysis, as well as providing the public emergency departments with various medical supplies," he added.
