Khartoum (IINA) – Sudan and Russia signed 14 agreements and a series of memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the fields of investment, environment, culture and an array of joint economic projects.
The agreements were inked here on Tuesday at the conclusion of the Sudanese-Russian Ministerial Committee in the presence of Vice President of Sudan Hassabu Mohamed Abdel-Rahman.
"We are counting on this ministerial committee to improve relations with Russia in all fields. We consider it the most successful ministerial committee and we hope to become a strategic partner of Russia," said the vice president, adding that Sudan is prepared to provide special terms for Russian investments, overcoming potential obstacles.
The ministerial meeting, which opened Saturday, focused on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Sudanese side was headed by Minister of Mineral Resources Dr Ahmed Mohamed Sadiq Al-Karuri, while the Russian delegation, which included over 50 representatives from public and private sectors, was headed by Natural Resources Minister Sergei Donskoi.
The agreements cover the areas of industry, electricity, investment promotion and protection, agricultural equipment, oil exploration, geological surveys and environmental protection.
