Astana (IINA) – Chairman of the Board of "Astana EXPO-2017" National Company (NC) Akhmetzhan Yessimov met here with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States in Kazakhstan George Krol.
During the meeting, Yessimov briefed the US diplomat on the EXPO-2017 project, including the construction progress and the future use of the exhibition pavilions.
He said that 55 countries and 12 international organizations have already confirmed their participation in the the upcoming event which has drawn keen interest of the international community.
With regard to the ongoing preparation process, Yessimov said: "We plan to attract over 100 countries. We've already signed participant agreements with 19 countries; 31 commissioners of countries and one international organization have been appointed."
In turn, Ambassador Krol said the US Government attaches a great deal of value to the Astana EXPO 2017 theme "Future Energy", and the topics that will be discussed at the event.
