Jazan (IINA) - Twenty-five people were killed and 107 injured at a hospital in southern Jazan city of Saudi Arabia early on Thursday, the Civil Defense said.
The blaze broke out at the intensive care unit and the maternity department of the Jazan General Hospital, the Civil Defense announced on Twitter, AFP reported. In its latest tweet, the Civil Defense announced that the “Jazan hospital accident is now over and investigation is under way to find out its reasons.” The injured had been transferred to private and general hospitals in the area, it added.
About 21 Civil Defense teams had assisted in putting out the blaze. Alriyadh daily quoted a Civil Defense spokesman as saying that the agency was alerted of the fire at 2:00 a.m. (2300 GMT).
