Occupied Jerusalem (IINA) – An Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation intends to discuss on Sunday a draft law that allows the imprisonment of Palestinian children in case they carry out attacks against Israelis.
Israeli Radio reported that the Ministerial Committee for Legislation will discuss on Sunday drafting a bill that would allow Palestinian minors, who commit crime against the backdrop of ultra-nationalism, to be sentenced to actual jail terms, before reaching the age of 14.
Under the new bill being drafted, Palestinian minors can receive jail sentences, but they would be kept in a closed treatment facility until the age of 14, when they would start serving the sentence in prison, the Radio added.
The bill was submitted by member of the Israeli Knesset Anat Berko of the right-wing Likud party.
Specialist in Israeli affairs Imad Abu Awwad said in statements to Anadolu Agency that "the draft resolution aims to allow the imprisonment of Palestinian children, as opposed to the fundamental principles of law dealing with children.
