Damascus, (IINA) - Two rockets struck the Russian embassy compound in Damascus on Tuesday sparking panic across the several hundreds of people who were demonstrating in front of the embassy, AFP reported.
Some 300 people had begun to gather for a demonstration regarding Russia's recent intervention in Syria when the rockets crashed into the embassy compound in the Mazraa neighborhood in the capital.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, Russian senior embassy official Eldar Kurbanov said: "Two rockets hit embassy territory at 10:15 am. No one was killed or wounded".
It is noteworthy that on September 21, nine days before Russia began its air war in Syria, Moscow demanded "concrete action" after a shell hit the embassy's compound in Damascus.
