Rabat, (IINA) - The Moroccan National Agency for the Fight Against Illiteracy (ANLCA) stated that about 10 million Moroccans, or nearly one third of the Kingdom's population, are still illiterate, news agencies reported.
After UNESCO’s International Literacy Day celebration, ANLCA stated: "We must not forget that 10 million Moroccans still suffer from this scourge”, and that this alarming figure requires intensified efforts in order for Morocco to achieve the goal of eradicating illiteracy by the year 2024.
The ANLCA also highlighted a 2012 study which said that the illiteracy rate among Moroccan population aged 10 and over was 28 percent  while 38 percent of the population aged 15 and over have insufficient alphabetic skills.
