Jeddah, (IINA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an emergency meeting at ministerial level soon in New York in order to discuss the Israeli violations in Jerusalem as well as the ways to stop it. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requested this meeting after the Israeli escalations on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani has welcomed the call of Saudi Arabia to hold this meeting, he stressed that it reflects the high priority and attention given to the Palestinian cause by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
Madani added that the Secretariat is coordinating closely with the Member States to hold the meeting at UN headquarters in a date that corresponds with the next session of the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasized that this meeting is an urgent necessity in light of the continuous Israeli aggressions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli scheme to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque temporally and spatially.
It is noteworthy that Member States, notably Palestine, welcomed the call of Saudi Arabia for this emergency ministerial meeting. Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, whose country chairs the current session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), has been following up with the concerned parties to hold this meeting as early as possible.
