OIC chief Iyad Madani
Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned Tuesday’s attack by Al-Shabaab militants on the Janale military base of the African Union Peace Keeping Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), resulting in the loss of lives of several Ugandan peacekeepers.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani extended his sincere condolences to the families of these heroes of peace, and expressed his deep sympathy to the government and people of Uganda. He also urged them to sustain their morale and commitment to the cause of durable peace in Somalia.
The Secretary General reassured the Somali authorities and the international community of the OIC determination to continue to actively support the stability efforts by intensifying its contributions towards peace building in this OIC member state.
