Makkah, (IINA) – The Saudi Project for the Utilization of Hajj Meat (Adahi), managed by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), has started implementing for this year’s Hajj, with slaughtering of 505,000 heads of sheep in the first two days of Eid al-Adha. As of Friday, IDB has sold a total of 780,000 Adahi coupons for slaughtering heads of sheep at the slaughterhouses in Mina.
This was disclosed by IDB President Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali. In a statement obtained by IINA, he said the Adahi project is part of "a civilized approach to humanitarian service to the Ummah. Many poor people, as well as charities working to support the poor within Saudi Arabia and outside, in addition to refugees and the needy people in 24 countries will be benefited from the project."
IDB president said that the distribution of the meat among the poor within the Haram borders and the pilgrims at the holy sites started on Friday. “The dispatch of sacrificial meat to outside the Kingdom would begin from the month of Muharram (mid October),” he said while unveiling plans for the distribution of the refrigerated sacrificial meat by land and sea to 23 countries, as well as to charities in the Kingdom, throughout the year.
IDB had started implementing Adahi project since the pilgrimage season of 1983, in cooperation with the concerned Saudi authorities.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali called on Muslims worldwide to supplicate to Almighty Allah to make Eid Al-Adha an occasion for bringing them prosperity as well as security and safety. While congratulating the pilgrims who performed Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, the IDB chief prayed to God to accept their pilgrimage and bless them to return home safely.
