Crane falls in Grand Mosque causes several casualties

Makkah, (IINA) - Saudi health authorities announced a medical red alert here on Friday, which is the maximum state of medical alert. Along with that emergency situation, hospitals, fire brigades and security authorities have also raised alert state to their maximum levels, this came in regard to the fall of a crane inside the Grand Mosque, which resulted in several causalities and others wounded.
The General Director of Red Crescent Authority in Makkah Region, Dr. Khaled Al-Habashi, stated that 39 ambulance vehicles are now trying to access the Grand Mosque in order to carry the injured to hospitals in the area, he also pointed out that there are several medical teams trying to treat the wounded people inside the mosque.
According to initial information, a crane from the expansion project in the Grand Mosque fell due to the strong rainfall that took place in the holy city, the fall unfortunately caused the deaths of several people.
The Saudi Civil Defense announced in a tweet that the number of victims after the fall of the crane in the Grand Mosque has reached 65 deaths, and 154 wounded.
