Tirana (IINA) – Albanian Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Innovation launched new application "The Digital Police Office", which is designed to involve all citizens directly in the crime-fighting activities of the police, ANTARA News reported.
The new application allows all Albanians to quickly report via a smartphone their concerns over various crimes and offences.
"We are working to revive dignity in the ranks of the Albanian police force," Albanian Interior Minister Tahiri said, adding that the new innovative application is to engage online with the Albanian citizens and involve them in fighting crimes.
He noted that the application will give a fresh impetus to the cooperation between police and the community. It will allow citizens to report a crime online using their smartphones and follow the instructions without the need to visit a police station.
Minister of Innovation Milena Harito underlined that technology and innovative applications are the best way to make life easier for the citizens, as part of the services offered by their government.
"The use of technology and innovation is an important instrument in the hands of the citizens to ease and cut procedures,” Harito said, adding: “Over the past two years, the government has launched a series of initiatives which have yielded concrete results.”
