Aden (IINA) - A Red Cross boat carrying medical aid and personnel docked in Yemen’s southern Aden port but nearby fighting preventing it from unloading, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition said on Wednesday.

"A boat belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) arrived at the port of Aden," said Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesman of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense. "But because of the troubled situation in some neighborhoods near the port," it remained "difficult" to deliver the aid on board to those in need, Asiri told reporters in Riyadh. The aid "is still at the port," AFP reported quoting him as saying.

He said on Tuesday that the Houthis were able to take control of the huge quantities of arms and ammunition, including weapons of the Yemeni Army.“There has been tremendous increase in the possession of weapons by the Houthis after an agreement with Iran. Subsequently, 14 flights carrying weapons were reaching Yemen in a week,” he said.Asiri said coalition forces have destroyed 11 arms and ammunition depots, including one in the Houthi-controlled border region of Saada during the last 24 hours. The Popular Resistance Committees in the south took control of Al-Anad air base, he said.
