Kuwait (IINA) – Kuwait's Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) media outlets must be responsible while addressing regional challenges, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Sheikh Salman was quoted by Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday as saying in his opening speech at the 45th meeting for the GCC Joint Program Production Institution (GCCJPPI) that the institution played an integral role in coordinating GCC efforts amid the challenges facing the region.

The Kuwaiti Minister, who is also the GCCJPPI chairman, affirmed that GCC media must reflect the aspirations of Gulf citizens, stressing that media in the region must focus messages on unity and cooperation rather than the opposite.

"Relating facts and being transparent is crucial for the current happenings in the region," said Shaikh Salman, noting that "Gulf youth should partake in spreading such notions whether it was within regular channels or through modern media applications and social networks."

Proposals that came out from previous meetings for GCC television and radio executives were discussed during the GCCJPPI meeting, KUNA reported.
