Iranian female professor awarded UNESCO Medal in Nanoscience

Paris (IINA) – Iranian Female Professor Soudabeh Davaran was one of the laureates who received the UNESCO Medal for the “Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies”, Nanotechnology Now website reported Monday.
The medal, which is awarded to the researchers who have significantly helped the development of nanotechnology and nanoscience, was presented by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova to eight laureates during a ceremony organized at UNESCO headquarters on April 10.
Dr. Davaran is the head of Medicinal Nanotechnology Department of Pharmaceutics College of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and the professor of medicinal biomaterials and medicinal nanotechnology of the university.
The UNESCO Medal “for contribution to the development of nanoscience and nanotechnologies” was established in 2010 at the initiative of the thematic group on “Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies” of the International Commission on the Development of the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS).
