Tripoli (IINA) – A bomb has exploded at the gates of the Moroccan embassy in the Libyan capital Tripoli hours after two people were shot dead outside South Korean embassy, the BBC reported, citing security officials.

There was some damage to cars nearby, but no reports of injuries as the embassy is not currently operational.

The device at the Moroccan embassy in the Bin Ashour area of Tripoli was left in a bag at the gate. The blast in the early hours on Monday morning was "very strong, and the house was shaking for few seconds," a witness told the AFP news agency.

It was unclear whether there was anyone in the embassy at the time of the incident and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

It is noteworthy that Morocco has hosted UN-sponsored dialogue between Libya's warring factions in an effort to end a conflict between two rival governments that threatens to drive the country into full-blown civil war.

On Sunday, gunmen opened fire from a passing car on a security post at the South Korean embassy, causing the death of a Libyan security guard and a civilian, and wounding a second guard. The militant group Islamic State (IS) said it carried out the attack.
