Tehran (IINA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif commended the release of the Iranian diplomat, who had been taken hostage in Yemen since 2013, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

In a message addressed to the Intelligence Minister, Zarif hailed the release of Iranian diplomat Nour Ahmad Nikbakht, who was kidnapped on 21 July 2013 while on his way from home to Iranian embassy in Sana’a and was taken hostage since then by terrorist groups.

The Foreign Minister appreciated the efforts of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in the process of releasing the diplomat, saying that his freedom from the clutches of terrorists indicated all-out security and political power of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Following his release, Nour Ahmad Nikbakht returned home on Thursday with his plane landing in Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.
