Amman (IINA) – The United Arab Emirates announced Saturday it is stationing a squadron of F-16 fighter jets in Jordan, to support the country's pledge to hunt down the Islamic State (IS) militants and “completely wipe them out.”

AP reported that it was not clear from the announcement, carried by the UAE’s official news agency (WAM), if the warplanes will carry out air strikes against IS strongholds in Syria and Iraq from Jordan, after a video released on Tuesday, depicting a Jordanian pilot being burned alive by the extremist group. The pilot's murder outraged Jordanians and was denounced across the Muslim world.

Both UAE and Jordan are members of the U.S.-led coalition against IS group, but the Gulf state has suspended its airstrikes since December last year, according to U.S. officials.
