Khartoum (IINA) – Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said that his country is seeking to draft a “permanent Islamic constitution, in order to become a model of Islamic country”.

In a meeting with the Sudan Islamic Board, held on Monday, al-Bashir stressed adherence to Islamic constitution as a reference to the ruling in the country, in all political, economic and social aspects.

He said: “The drafting of a permanent constitution will be preceded by a comprehensive Islamic dialogue between all sectors of society to reach a constitution acceptable to all the people of Sudan and a model of the Islamic country”.

“We want to stand acquitted before Allah in the first place” said al-Bashir, adding that the country relies on its scholars in the indigenization of Islam in the lifestyle, along with the need to deal with extremism in a prudent way, denying at the same time the existence of terrorists in his country.
