Bahrain suspends activities of Al-Arab channel

Tuesday 10 Feb 2015 - 10:25 Makkah mean time-21-4-1436 Photo: Youtube Images Manama (IINA) – Bahrain has announced the suspension of Manama-based Al-Arab TV channel activities due to its failure to obtain the necessary permits before starting to broadcast from the country, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported. Information Minister Isa Abdulrahman Al Hammadi explained that the cabinet approved on Monday a recommendation by the High Authority for Information and Communication (HAIC) on suspension of Al-Arab TV channel activities because of its failure to meet the needed technical and administrative requirements. The minister revealed, in a press conference, that the channel's activities have to comply with the media laws and regulations, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and international agreements. He also highlighted the importance of considering the decisive regional and international war on terrorism. AB/IINA
